“The first batch of 100% national Covid-19 Fiocruz vaccines was released by quality control this Monday. Fiocruz has been aligning with the Ministry of Health the schedule for this delivery, according to the demand of the folder. Further information about the national vaccine will be released soon,” the foundation said in a statement.
The Brazilian immunizer is the result of a technology transfer agreement between Fiocruz and the consortium formed by the University of Oxford and the pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca. The first batches produced in Brazil by the foundation used active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) – which is the main immunizing input sent from China.
There is still no position from the Ministry of Health on the receipt of the first 100% national batch, nor the amount of vaccines that will be delivered.
